I Probably Was Inspired By John Mulaney

First panel: Data and Geordi in Ten Forward. Data: “Geordi, I have observed that unpredictable events can be considered funny. Would you agree?” Geordi: “Yeah, I think so. There aren’t any hard rules when it comes to humor, but funny things are usually unexpected.” Second panel: Data: “Suppose one were to give a phaser to a horse and set it free on a starship. One could not reliably predict the actions of the horse. Would that be considered amusing?” Third panel: Geordo: “Yeah, maybe. It’s all in the execution. It sounds like a funny premise for a holonovel.” Fourth panel: Data: “A holonovel? Would it not be amusing if it happened on the Enterprise?” Geordi: “No, of course not. The horse could vaporize someone.” Data: “Does the element of legitimate danger negate the humor?” Geordi: “Yes, it does. It’s not funny if somebody really gets hurt.” Data: “In that case—” Fourth panel: Data: “—please do not look behind you.” Behind Geordi, a horse has a phaser in its mouth. The phaser fires, narrowly missing Worf. Guinan tries to calm the horse.
